Gombe APC crisis: Rep. Kumo vows to challenge suspension in court

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Kumo said that move to suspend him was a plot by some political opponents whom he had defeated in the past elections.

“To this end, I am going to court to challenge the suspension, because all the allegations are spurious and none of them can stand the test of time.

“Can you imagine that one of the allegations is that I bought a car for my constituent? How can this be described as an anti-party activity?

“I have never done anything against my party’s principles or carried out any act of violence against my party, as alleged in the purported suspension notice.

“I have concrete information that the mastermind of this plot to rubbish me is a top politician; a man I have remained loyal to in all my political sojourn,’’ he said.

The lawmaker said that it was also alleged that he exhibited acts of indiscipline against unidentified persons, saying that all the allegations were concocted and scripted by the same politician.

According to him, procedurally, the ward has failed, as it has no right to write straight to the national chairman of the party.

He explained that the ward ought to have gone through the local government and zonal offices first, arguing that it violated all procedures.

Kumo claimed that a careful look at the signatures suggested that they were faked in a bid to malign his person and his political career.

“This development is a sad commentary for our democracy which we all fought to bring to bear in Nigeria.

“The court is the final arbiter of justice, and there I am heading to, to clear all the unfounded allegations against my person,” Kumo added.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the 2019 general election that brought Kumo to the Ninth House of Representatives was challenged in the courts, which, however, declared him winner.
