I know I’ve made a mistake, but please don’t judge me. How do I tell our families that it is over between us?
I’m currently serving in Ilorin while my parents live in Lokoja.
I got pregnant after graduating from school for my boyfriend and I bore him a son. Before we started dating, we were best of friends, and he never asked me out officially, we just started dating. All through the relationship, we both put in our best.
Presently, I live in his parent’s house in Ilorin. I’ve been living here for over a year.
When I was pregnant, a few weeks to delivery, he told me that I wasn’t what he wanted, that he doesn’t love me. He said he has been pretending all this while so as not to turn me into a laughing stock amidst my friends and his own friends. I felt he was frustrated, because he wasn’t financially buoyant. But now I now know that he means business. It’s been really painful but I have to move on.
We rarely talk when he’s around. He’s only concerned about his son but he calls my name in his sleep, he always goes through my phone always, and when he needs help, he runs to me. Honestly speaking, his parents are awesome, they stood by me when my parents rejected me, they have been nice to me and my son.
But things got awkward when one of his siblings was rude to me and I reacted, then he took sides with her. She kept telling me to leave their house, and now I want to move out. I no longer want to stay here for peace to reign, moreover, we aren’t dating anymore but my boyfriend’s parents do not know this.
He wants me to drop my son, because his mum has tried for me, but I told him no. I said if I’m going, I’m leaving with my son.
The problem is, very soon, both 0ur families will be meeting to make plans about our official introduction and wedding. Should I tell my mum about the breakup or should I keep quiet to save me from embarrassment? How do I move out with my son without being seen as an ingrate by my mother-in-law?
