Gunfire in surulere: streets became empty as residents flee

Sporadic gunshots rocked Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Wednesday as business owners quickly closed their shops and fled.
Some streets in the area were deserted as suspected cultists, armed with locally produced weapons, stormed Cassette Bus Stop, Aguda, shooting sporadically to announce their presence.
A witness who craved anonymity told P.M.NEWS that he and others hid somewhere and could see the hoodlums parading the area with guns.

The hoodlums were said to be planning to engage a rival group in gun-battle in the city.

On Willy Omiyi Lane, off the Cassette Bus Stop, we saw more than 10 hoodlums gathering. I also found that the locally manufactured weapons were stored in an open space that was supposed to be a car park purchased in the area by a Catholic church,” the witness said.”

In the affected areas of Aguda, we still need to see RRS men,” he added.”

As calls made to his phone were not picked up, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi could not be reached.
